This page is designed to show you what 'Alert Modes' the Omaha Weather Office is on. This page is meant to warn you of up coming Extreme Weather Events. Short Term Forecast, as well as Outlooks for Big Storms will be issued on this page for viewing.

Omaha Weather Office Alert Modes

Current Alert Mode's In Effect : Severe Storm Alert Mode & Heavy Rain Alert Mode

Severe Storm Alert Mode : Severe Storm Alert Mode is issued 2-3 days ahead of the expected Severe Weather. In this Alert Mode, you will see the text on the front page in Red. The front page will also include Short Term Forecast, and Severe Weather Outlooks.

Heavy Rain Alert Mode : Heavy Rain Alert Mode is issued when 2-3 days in advance when a prolonged period or short period of Very Heavy Rainfall is expected over the viewing area. Short Term Forecast and Rainfall Amounts are included on the Front Page.

High Wind Alert Mode : High Wind Alert Mode is issued 2-3 days in advance when an expected a period of High Wind is expected.

Winter Storm Alert Mode : Winter Storm Alert Mode is issued when Extreme Winter Weather or General Winter Weather is expected across the viewing area. Snowfall maps, or any other type of Accumulation maps are posted on the front page for everyone to view. As well their will be short term and special weather statements.
